TORONTO (Reuters Life!) - A Boston TV crew's shoot in Vancouver about how picturesque and livable that Canadian city is took an ironic twist -- their camera equipment was stolen from a rental van during a coffee break.
Vancouver constable Howard Chow said the break-in occurred while the WCVB-TV crew were resting after shooting footage on Granville Island, along the city's waterfront.
"Unfortunately, when they parked their rental van out front, it was broken into and a number of their camera equipment and gear was taken to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars," Chow told local radio station CKNW.
Chow added that the U.S. television crew had just captured footage on Vancouver for a documentary series on the world's most beautiful cities.
"Ironically, they were filming Vancouver as being one of the top places in the world to live and visit," he said.
Vancouver police estimated the value of the crew's camera and equipment seized in the break-in at around $50,000.
