Que pasa signorita...

Going back to Bosnia. Again? Good for you. If you gonna have a chance, go and visit Buna, near Mostar.
There is a famous tekija(Dervish house) and the surroundings is just amazing.

Speaking of music, I would recommend you Mostar Sevdah Reunion.
They are Bosnian landmark ethno band,a mixture of gypsy music and the old Bosnian folk songs(Sevdalinke).

It's a summertime and I'll be as much as possible off line. I need an electronic break.Vancouver is beautiful during summer...

Have a nice trip

The best for you is to visit both.

You got that right. But I am good in geography...

Try some vines in the Mostar region. There is also nearby Medjugorje, the Catholics pilgrimage site, dedicate to Virgin Mary though not recognized by Vatikan. You know that..

I recently discovered that the Vatikan does not recognize the poor Holy Mary of Medjugorie. I wonder why. do you have any ideas?
I'll try Mostar vines.
Oh, I'm looking forward to being there drinking liters of Sarajevsko and pretending not to smoke to avoid smoking 60 cigarettes per day with the Bosnian constantly lighting and offering lighting and offering...it's amazing how much people smoke down there.
and then I'm going to Sutijeska and wherelse I still don't know.
I'll come back to Italy by ship, so I planned to spend two days in Dubrovnik. It's been 12 years since I last saw Dubrovnik.

Signorina Lesha, are you sure you're an Italian?

No idea why Vatican hasn't recognized Medjugorje yet. I do not practice religion...never been there.

Speaking of smoking, I used to smoke. A lot. Smoking is a cultural trend on the Balkans. No doubt about it.
Since I have immigrated to Canada I quit. Good for my health, bad for my "cultural" background.
You're from Bosnia and you do not smoke? Weird...

Sutjeska is a National Park. During WW II there was a famous battlefield. You might see a monument nearby.

Dubrovnik, the pearl of Adriatic.Hmmm...I haven't been there for, at least, 10 years. It is a must. Architecture and an old city are worth seeing.

Did I tell I envy you?

Have a nice holiday

so, you're not in Tuzla this summer...it's a pity...
or you envy me for dubrovnik?

a friend of mine made a beautiful docu film about memory in former yugoslavia. a part of it is dedicated to sutieska, it's a beautiful place.

I'm Italian and the Vatican is another nation ;)
I'm not catholic either...

cheers

I envy you in general. It sounds as a good trip. You'll se a lot of things.

I forgot to tell you.
On the road from Sarajevo to Mostar, thera are a dozen restaurants with a sign if front of them-Ja(g)njece Pecenje...roast lamb.
So if you're not a vegetarian, go for it.
Bon Apetite

yummi, the poor lamb, I have to taste it!
I don't know if I'll have the possibility to stop on the road, since I'll just travel by bus or train. I'll be alone, so I thought it was better to move by public transportation. then I guess I will take part in those excursions organised by tourist agencies. I saw there are lot in both Sarajevo and Mostar.
btw, I have some friend in Sarajevo hosting me for a couple of days, and I hope they'll recommend some trips...
anyway, I'm open to different opprtunities. I would also just stop in Sarajevo and then Mostar just to enjoy the atmosphere of these towns.
if you have other hints, please don't forget to tell me.

cheers

Even if your travel by bus you can stop by easily at any restaurants and try roast lamb. It's a Bosnian tradition...

Whenever I visit Sarajevo I must have klepe-a Bosnian ravioli drenched in a sour cream, garlic and butter.
There is a restaurant on Bascarsija(Old city)- "Pod Lipom" with a good choice of homemade Bosnian food. Just ask your friend, he/she probably knows where it is.

Speaking of food...Im hungry now.
